2002/03

Scarlets, then known as Llanelli, completed a convincing double over Glasgow Rugby as they stormed to the top of Pool 3, winning five of their six matches.

They first demolished their Scottish visitors 45-15 with a six-try home display in Round 2 thanks largely to a brilliant double from current head coach Dwayne Peel, who inspired a scintillating 34-point, second-half bonanza.

The Welsh side then swept into the quarter-finals by storming to a 34-8 victory in Round 6 at Hughenden via six tries, including a hat-trick from Garan Evans, after opening up a 29-3 interval lead.

2004/05

Two seasons later Llanelli had become Llanelli Scarlets, but it didn’t make any difference as the Welsh side notched another double over Glasgow Rugby.

The difference this time was that those wins were the Scarlets’ only successes in Pool 3 as they finished second bottom, 11 points clear of winless Glasgow.

Four first-half tries – from Gavin Thomas, Matthew Watkins (2) and Garan Evans – gave the Scarlets a bonus-point 29-26 victory at Hughenden, although they had to survive a strong second-half Glasgow rally, with Calvin Howarth's 16 points and Gareth Maclure's try earning them a bonus point too.

It was more comfortable for the Scarlets at Stradey Park, where the home side ran riot in the final quarter with tries from Aisea Havili, Vernon Cooper and Tal Selley to seal a 38-22 win, after Glasgow fought back from 12-8 down at half-time to 15-15 after 50 minutes.

2015/16

The tables were well and truly turned in the clubs’ most recent meetings, with Glasgow Warriors registering their own double over Scarlets to condemn the winless Welsh region to last place in Pool 3.

Glasgow ended their losing run against Scarlets in style with a 43-6 romp at Scotstoun, Taqele Naiyaravoro scoring three tries, and Duncan Weir, James Malcolm and Tim Swinson claiming one apiece.

The return at Parc y Scarlets in dreadful conditions was a much tighter affair, though, with Finn Russell’s three penalties trumping two from Aled Thomas in a 9-6 victory.

The EPCR Challenge Cup semi-final between Scarlets and Glasgow Warriors on April 29 will be their first meeting in the competition. However, they have met six times before in the pool stage of the Heineken Champions Cup, with Scarlets holding a 4-2 advantage.
