The call-up comes after an impressive opening half of the season, including three appearances in the Heineken Champions Cup and a try in the Saints’ Round 6 win over Lyon, which sealed their spot in the last eight.

The 23-year-old is one of two Northampton players in England’s starting XV. The other is Courtney Lawes, who will play his 82nd Test on Sunday, while fellow Saints flanker Lewis Ludlam is on the bench.

Fellow quarter-finalists Saracens have four players in the England XV, namely former EPCR European Players of the Year Maro Itoje and Owen Farrell, wing Elliot Daly and hooker Jamie George.
