It would be a memorable day at Croke Park for Leinster as they secured a 25-6 win over Munster, with tries from Gordon D'Arcy, Luke Fitzgerald and Brian O’Driscoll doing the damage for the hosts.

Leinster opened the scoring with a Felipe Contepomi drop goal but the lead was short-lived as Ronan O'Gara slotted over a penalty to level the scores.

Johnny Sexton kicked Leinster back in front before the opening try came the way of the hosts. The Leinster line-out laid the platform for a sweeping move that stretched Munster as Isa Nacewa played a floating pass to Gordon D'Arcy who had the strength to ride the challenge of Keith Earls before dotting down.

O’Gara would trim the gap just before the break to make it 11-6 but that was as good as it got for the defending European champions.

Leinster’s second try saw them take a firm grip on the game as Nacewa again caused trouble and some slick hands from Brian O'Driscoll and Shane Horgan created the opening for Luke Fitzgerald who stepped inside for the score.

The final nail in the Munster coffin then came from captain O'Driscoll as he pounced on a loose pass from O'Gara and snatched it from the grasp of Paul O'Connell.

The centre then raced downfield before touching down under the posts to put his side on course for a first Heineken Cup success and secure arguably Leinster’s greatest win in the province’s history.
