The Gallagher Premiership club succumbed to a last-gasp, 26-27 defeat against Ospreys at Mattioli Woods Welford Road on Friday night to finish in fourth place in Pool B, which earned them a home tie against Edinburgh Rugby.

"Through to the knockout stages of Europe is a great achievement and we've done some special things in this campaign, made some great memories," said Wigglesworth after the Tigers’ first loss of the EPCR season.

"But while we probably would have taken that at the start of the tournament, it doesn't feel like success. We play to win and didn't win.

"It was never a case of living or dying on the fact we could secure a home knockout game. We always want to go out and perform and win. We were in a position to win and couldn't get that over the line. The result is our making.

"We opened the door for them to come back and win it, only six points ahead, against a good team in the top tier of Europe. If you give penalties away in field position, you are going to lose games."
