Ireland’s 60-5 victory over Japan saw Leinster Rugby’s Johnny Sexton dot down on his 100th cap, as the four-time European champion put up 16 points at the Aviva Stadium.

Munster Rugby’s Andrew Conway notched a hat-trick of tries, while Leinster’s James Lowe, Jamison Gibson-Park, Garry Ringrose and Cian Healy also crossed, in addition to a score from Connacht Rugby’s Bundee Aki.

Elsewhere, Harlequins fly-half Marcus Smith came off the bench to score a try and kick five conversions as England thrashed Tonga 69-3 at Twickenham Stadium.

Leicester Tigers scrum-half Ben Youngs went over twice on his 110th cap, with his second-half replacement, Northampton Saints’ Alex Mitchell, scoring on his debut.

There was another debut try for a Heineken Champions Cup player in France’s 29-20 win at home to Argentina - Stade Toulousain lock Thibaud Flament crossed in his maiden international game, with clubmate Peato Mauvaka also dotting down.

Northampton fly-half Dan Biggar slotted six penalties as Wales went down 23-18 to South Africa at the Principality Stadium, while Montpellier Hérault Rugby counterpart Paolo Garbisi nudged three in Italy’s 47-9 loss to New Zealand.
