The June Tests in the southern hemisphere, which finished at the weekend, have thrown up some interesting new European names. Here are five who could make their mark in the Challenge Cup in 2018/19: Tom Curry (Sale Sharks) Curry didn't play in last season's Challenge Cup, largely due to injury, but he is set to make his presence felt in Pool 3 of this term's competition after impressing on England's summer tour of South Africa. The 20-year-old flanker played in all three Tests and so should add to his single European start and four substitute appearances – all made in the Champions Cup in 2016/17. James Lang (Harlequins) The 23-year-old utility back made a stunning start to his European rugby career last season, when he featured in Harlequins' memorable 33-28 comeback win in Champions Cup Pool 1 against Wasps, scoring a try which he converted himself. He also played in Quins' 16-7 loss at La Rochelle and could well receive further European outings in Pool 5 of the Challenge Cup, given his versatility and the fact that he is now a senior international, having won two caps for Scotland on their summer tour of the Americas. Owen Watkin (Ospreys) Watkin is likely to be a key player for Ospreys on their return to the Challenge Cup in Pool 2, after starting all six of the Welsh region's Champions Cup Pool 2 ties last season. The 21-year-old centre, who made his European bow as a replacement against Exeter Chiefs in 2016, has also added to his Test experience with Wales in the summer by winning caps against South Africa and Argentina. Judicaël Cancoriet (ASM Clermont Auvergne) The 23-year-old flanker has been gradually eased into ASM Clermont Auvergne's starting line-up in Europe, with single substitute appearances in the Champions Cup in 2015 and 2016 being followed last season by three starts in Pool 2. Now Clermont are back in the Challenge Cup, in Pool 1, Cancoriet could be seen more regularly in Europe this season, particularly as he boosted his Test starts with France to four against New Zealand this month. Giovanni Licata (Zebre Rugby Club) Licata burst on to the European scene last season with three tries in four Challenge Cup appearances for Zebre, all against Pool 3 winners Pau. The 21-year-old back-row forward has since acquired further international experience with Italy, including two caps on their summer tour of Japan to take his total to seven, and so could well be a regular starter for Zebre in Pool 4.
