With Round 5 of the European Rugby Champions Cup kicking off tonight (Friday), we look at some of the players who could make the headlines this weekend.

Jordan Larmour - Leinster Rugby

Leinster Rugby head coach Leo Cullen has given a first Champions Cup start to Jordan Larmour for their Pool 3 match against Glasgow Warriors and it’s not hard to see why. The 20-year-old, who came off the bench in Rounds 3 and 4 against Exeter Chiefs, has been handed the No.15 shirt for Sunday’s match after impressing in Guinness PRO14 action.

Liam Williams - Saracens

Liam Williams has been out since November with groin and hernia injuries, but he has been named in the Saracens team to face Ospreys this weekend. Williams has three tries in two Champions Cup appearances this season and will need to be at his best for Saracens, who lie third in Pool 2 in what should be a close match at The Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Donnacha Ryan - Racing 92

Former Munster Rugby lock Donnacha Ryan will face his old team on Sunday, when Racing 92 host the Irish province at the U Arena. Injury has meant Ryan only made his Racing debut last month, but he has made up for that with some impressive displays, including an all-action performance in last Sunday’s TOP 14 58-6 win over ASM Clermont Auvergne.

Adam Ashe - Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow Warriors and Scotland forward Adam Ashe was a key player in the Scottish side’s excellent start to the PRO14 season, before picking up an ankle injury against Leinster in October. He makes a return to European action on Sunday and will need to resurrect his top form if Glasgow are to topple the Pool 3 leaders in Dublin.

Rhys Patchell - Scarlets

Rhys Patchell has been a leading light in Scarlets’ Champions Cup season so far, having recently signed a new contract with the Welsh region. They face a stern test on Friday night at Bath, where the full-back will have to be close to his best if they are to pick up a crucial away win that would put them top of Pool 5, if only for less than 24 hours.
