The England No.8, who penned a new long-term deal with Quins this week, was a key player in last season’s Gallagher Premiership triumph, but he stresses that they need to “kick on”, starting with Friday’s Heineken Champions Cup trip to Cardiff Rugby.

“We are trying to create something really special at the club,” said Dombrandt. “Winning the Premiership last season was amazing, but we don’t want to just sit on what we did last year.

“We are in a really good spot at the moment, but it’s about looking to kick on now and try to win more trophies.

“We’re going well in Europe and the moment. That's a big one, to try to get into the knockout stages and see how far we can take that as well.”

Quins have won both their Pool B matches this campaign and having scored three tries in his two Heineken Champions Cup appearances this season, they will look to Dombrandt to lead their push for a last-16 spot.

He said: “Obviously, having the taste of winning the Premiership last year was great and I want to experience days like that even more.

“So, I will try and win more trophies with Harlequins and see how far we can take it in Europe.”
