The 2018 Heineken Champions Cup semi-finalists were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Toulon last season at the quarter-final stage and were also beaten twice by the three-time European champions in the pool stages.

The Welsh region have also played against Bath in recent seasons, having traded victories with the 1998 European Cup winners during the 2017-18 season.

But despite recent defeats to Toulon, Delaney has said he is really excited to have been placed in Pool A alongside the French giants as well as Bath.

"We know these guys really well, we've played a lot of European rugby against them and we've just had a quarter-final against them,” Delaney told BBC Sport Wales.

"They're a wonderful adversary and I think both clubs enjoy playing each other, two passionate sets of supporters, both in red, so we're really excited and happy about that.

“We've got some recent history with those guys, again a side slowly building under a new coaching group, guys I know really well.

"They're a very set-piece-orientated team who look to get their scrum and their power game going, in some respects typical of a Premiership side, and the Rec is one of the greatest grounds to go to in the competition.”
