Technically, Saracens have little to play for in the English competition, having been relegated for salary cap breaches, but Daly insisted that was not the case, with a last-eight European clash fixed for September 19 in Dublin against the side they beat in last year’s final.

"We have quite a few games to get into form again, to play well as a team and create some momentum ahead of that, because we will need it against a good Leinster side," the England international told PA.

"To build for that, it will take our whole squad to get us there. These next few games in the Premiership are important to get momentum going.

"Usually, winning games gives you momentum and playing well, so there is a big emphasis on what we do here as a team and as a club to try and push forward."

The three-time European champions return to action after lockdown on Saturday against European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-finalists Bristol Bears in the Premiership.

Daly, who played in half of Sarries’ Pool 4 games as they finished second to Racing 92, added: "We know exactly what we need to do in this block of games leading up to the quarter-finals.”

If Saracens beat Leinster, their semi-final would take place the following week, but if they reach the final on October 17, they might be playing in the English Championship by then.

However, the 27-year-old British and Irish Lion is not worried, explaining: "If we are playing in the Championship and the Champions Cup at the same time, I think for us it will be the next game mentality.

"Our squad is very good, the quality is all around and if we do need to chop and change and bring people in, I think everyone is happy to do that."
