Round 2 in the Challenge Cup boasts two mouth-watering ties which feature throwbacks to classic games in the European Cup. Here are our top three. Pool 2: RC Toulon v Scarlets This is the sides’ first meeting since their memorable Round 6 match in the 2017/18 Champions Cup, when Scarlets edged out Toulon 30-27 at a sold-out Parc y Scarlets to become the first Welsh region for six years to reach the last eight of Europe's premier competition. That was the fourth nail-biting encounter between the two teams in successive seasons, with Toulon having beaten Scarlets 21-20 in the reverse match in 2017/18, after the two matches the previous season had finished 31-20 and 22-21 in favour of the home side. [jwplayer SFn4kZuo] Pool 3: Edinburgh Rugby v Bordeaux-Bègles This tie is sure to bring back fond memories for Edinburgh fans, as they beat Bordeaux-Bègles twice on their way to their sole European final appearance in 2014/15. The Scottish side lost 19-13 to Gloucester Rugby in the Challenge Cup decider, but they had earlier overcome the French club 27-6 away and 23-0 at home in the pool stage. Pool 5: Cardiff Blues v Leicester Tigers These two clubs participated in the one and only penalty shootout so far in European rugby – in 2009, when Leicester reached the European Cup final for the fifth time, after No.8 Jordan Crane secured a 7-6 win for the visitors. Leicester had stormed into a 26-12 lead with tries from wing Scott Hamilton and full-back Geordan Murphy, only for Cardiff to stage a superb fightback in the last six minutes via scores from centre Jamie Roberts and wing Tom James, forcing extra-time, which proved scoreless.
