As it's St. David's Day today, we thought we would revel in Wales' famous patriotic fervour by looking back at some of the best Welsh performances in European competition, including Cardiff Blues' Challenge Cup win in 2010.

Leinster 14 Cardiff 23 – 1995/96
Cardiff put in a superb away performance to defeat Leinster in Dublin and reached the inaugural European Cup final as a result, with Adrian Davies kicking 10 points.
They faced Toulouse in the final at Cardiff Arms Park, but lost 21-18 after extra time with Christophe Deylaud kicking the decisive penalty.

Bath Rugby 10 Llanelli Scarlets 27 - 2001/02
Stephen Jones kicked all 27 of the Welsh region's points to defeat 1998 winners Bath Rugby in the European Cup quarter-finals at The Rec.
Jones – who has scored 946 points in European rugby – slotted over eight penalties from as many attempts as well as a drop goal for good measure.

Ospreys 17 Leicester Tigers 12 – 2009/10
Ospreys had to beat 2009 European Cup finalists Leicester Tigers in their final pool stage game in order to qualify for the quarter-finals for the third successive season.
They did just that in nail-biting circumstances, with Tommy Bowe scoring the only try in the match and Dan Biggar kicking 12 points to send the Welsh fans into raptures at the Liberty Stadium.
They were beaten in the last eight for the third straight year though, this time going down 29-28 to Biarritz Olympique in France.

Cardiff Blues 28 RC Toulon 21 – 2009/10
Cardiff Blues became the first and only Welsh team so far to lift a European trophy when they defeated RC Toulon in the Challenge Cup final at Stade Vélodrome.
Jonny Wilkinson scored eight points for Toulon as the game swung back and forth but second-half tries from Cardiff’s Jamie Roberts, Leigh Halfpenny and Bradley Davies edged them in front.
A late Thomas Sourice try wasn’t enough to snatch the trophy away from Cardiff, who will be looking to repeat that success this season. They travel to face Edinburgh Rugby in their Challenge Cup quarter-final on March 31.

Scarlets 43 Perpignan 34 – 2010/11
Another from Stephen Jones as he scored 28 points in a remarkable individual display as Scarlets overcame Perpignan in their opening European Cup pool stage match at Parc y Scarlets in 2010.
The 40-year-old fly-half scored a second half try as well as slotting over five penalties and converting all four tries in a stunning performance.
